Blizzcon 2021 Opening Ceremony Recap
Last year, the Corona Virus happened and put many of our lives and events on halt. One of those Event was Blizzcon 2020. For those who don’t know Blizzcon is a huge event for Blizzard Entertainment that showcases everything from the past year for Blizzard as well as a “What is to come” for the game company. So many of us asked what would come of it since there wasn’t a 2020 Blizzcon. Well Blizzard answered and gave us a Blizzcon Online free of charge (save for your goodie bag). Well this happened over the past weekend and aside from a few leaks everything went off pretty smoothly. Here is a recap of the Opening Festivities!
Blizzcon 2021 Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony started with a statement from Blizzard President J. Allen Brack. Who came to talk about 30 years of Blizzard, The Lost Vikings, DIablo, and World of Warcraft while also mentioning that nothing about this last year has been normal. While the pandemic has been hard for being apart physically it hasn’t stopped us from moving forward and connecting with player friends around the world. It also hasn’t stopped us from checking in on one another as humans.
Blizzard Arcade Collection
Blizzard announced the Arcade Collection which include The Lost Vikings, Rock n’ Roll Racing, and Blackthorne will be coming to all consoles. If you purchased the Blizcon Anniversery Bundle it is included!
World of Warcraft
Shadowlands – Patch 9.1 Chains of Domination
World of Warcraft:Shadowlands first Content Patch has been officially announced despite leaks due to an early upload from the Presskit.
First things first we are introduced to the new cinematic “Kingsmorne” which has chilling similarities to when Arthas comes back from Northrend. Even Uther recognizes it from his wound. While I have never been a huge fan of Anduin, this does make for some huge impacts on Lore especially with Arthas and I can’t wait for it to unfold!
Blizzard also announced a new Charity Pet Program for World of Warcraft for support of Doctors Without Borders. If Blizzard hits their goal we all get the In Game Pet “Bananas” and if they make it to their stretch goal we will also get “Daisy”the Sloth a new Pet!
The Burning Crusade – Classic
After much speculation, and many surveys Blizzard has announced The Burning Crusade Classic. Bringing the first World of Warcraft Expansion back for players to experience!

Hearthstone
Classic
Blizzard has announced that this is the year of the Gryhon when it comes to Hearthstone as well as introducing Hearthstone Classic mode with the original cards only!
Forged in the Barrens Expansion
Blizzard also announced the Forged in Barrens Expansion for Hearthstone with the new Keyword: Frenzy! The expansion also includes the 30th Anniversery Card Back!
Mercenaries
New mode called Mercenaries that allows you to play through with iconic RPG Elements where you take on different Mercenary Teams on each node in the map. Your heroes will level up as you go through, some of these include Sylvannas Windrunner and Ragnaros. This mode launches later this year!
Diablo
Diablo IV
New class announced the Rogue returns for the Diablo IV.
The Rogue is a flexible class where you can be an Archer or the classic Cloak and Dagger Assasin. You will have freedom of customization for looks and background just like other classes.
Diablo Immortal
DIablo Immortal will bridge the gap for story between Diablo II and Diablo III, Blizzard is taking what they learned from their recent Technical Alpha and applying it. The technical Alpha which will be happening soon!
Diablo II: Ressurected
Blizzard has announced the Remastering of Diablo II with 3D Graphics and will be available on all consoles along with Cross Progression between platforms.
Metallica Online Concert
At the end of the Opening Ceremonies, they introduced Metallica to play via live broadcast. Thiis was met with some controversery due to Twitch actually replacing the audio with some non-copyrighted music in order to not get hit by DMCA. Ironically they did this to the actuall band, and it was durring an “Online Concert”
