Final Fantasy XIV: Things to do before Endwalker

Final Fantasy XIV latest expansion comes out November 23, 2021 and Early Access for those who Pre-Ordered FFXIV: Endwalker on November 19, 2021. So then the question is what should you be doing as a player to prepare if anything? Well one thing to do is to Pre-Order so you get special EXP earrings, nice bonus for leveling up alt classes and your main class to 80 for new and returning players.

This article aims to help out players who may be lost on what to do before the game comes out, or maybe feel they have done everything. With it being an MMO there are always things to do, and I plan to highlight some of them.

FFXIV: Endwalker Benchmark

Those who play on PC or starting out on PC (or Steam since they consider PC and Steam Separate) one thing that FFXIV does compared to other Games in the Genre is they release a Benchmark Tool. This let’s you see how your computer stacks up as well as if it’s ready to run the new game. It’s a nice little tool that let’s you know where you should be at graphic wise. You can get it by going to the FFXIV: Endwalker Benchmark website.

For those interested you can also make a Male Viera in the Benchmark (bunny person). Whoever wants that option.

Main Story Quest

This is a big one, and may seem like a no brainer for players who have played for a while. However, there are quite a bit of players who are new from other games. So if you didn’t know you need to make sure to complete the Main Story Quests all the way through Shadowbringers. This way when the expansion launches you can take your main Job and start progressing, or jump into one of the new classes.

Final Fantasy XIV does it a bit different then other games and locks content behind the story, so you absolutely need to do the MSQ. Now that isn’t to hard, as your leveling you should be getting through it no problem. Again this is more for new players who play things like WoW where you can level to max through dungeons and never have to touch a quest once you get through a dungeon.

Hildibrand Side Quests

This is completely, optional but unlock trials and emotes. Also it’s a fun little side story that is hilarious. Sadly, no new quests came out in Shadowbringers, but we can be hopeful that we will see some more in Endwalker. If your interested see Wynmond in Ul’dah to start the quest (at level 50).

Bahamut and Omega Raids

These ones are for story progression as the Story Writer Natsuko Ishikawa recommends that players complete the side quest raids series as it will supplement the Endwalker Story. These are the Binding Coil of Bahamut and Omegascape. I would have recommended doing these either way as it’s a nice back story, but it’s nice to know they are circling back to older content with the new expansion as well.

You can start Bahamut raid quest with Urianger in the Waking Sands and Omegascape with Wedge at Rhalgr’s Reach.

Inconclusion on things before FFXIV: Endwalker

At the end of the day what content you finish is up to you, I recommend taking your time and going at your own pace. The game has a fun story, and don’t let people pressure you into rushing to end game. As for endgame gear or gear at a certain Item Level, I won’t recommend jumping on it as you will get gear from leveling in the new expansion and doing the dungeons. You can of course do that however, it is only going to give a slight advantage.
